ePropulsion expands its range with the new Spirit 2 electric motor!

ePropulsion, a leading manufacturer of electric boat motors, introduces the new Spirit 2 motor in the Spirit series.

Spirit 2 marks ten years of innovation in the field of electric motors and offers an excellent combination of power and portability. This compact electric motor gives boat owners more possibilities while remaining easy to use and transport. Spirit 2 combines efficient performance with a smart, user-friendly design, raising expectations for small electric motors even further.

Spirit 2 is powered by a 2 kW motor, and its lightweight yet robust design is suitable for a wide range of boating experiences. The new 3 kW Boost mode provides extra power when needed, while maintaining the motor’s usual efficiency and quiet operation. The motor is paired with a 1539 Wh battery, the largest in its class, delivering longer range and reliable performance.

“Spirit 2 reflects our vision of the future of electric boating, where performance and portability go hand in hand,” said Danny Tao, co-founder and CEO of ePropulsion. “We took everything users valued about the original Spirit motor and took it to the next level — resulting in more power, better portability, and smart control. Spirit 2 is designed to make the boating experience even more enjoyable everywhere.”

Spirit 2 is designed for simple and convenient use. The compact motor weighs only 10.2 kg*, the battery 10.4 kg, making handling on and off the water very easy. New features such as a removable mount, foldable tiller, and quick-connect battery make transport, installation, and storage easy. The full-color display and adjustable-length tiller increase comfort, control, and overall ease of use.

Several innovations make Spirit 2 the perfect companion for everyday boating. These include shallow-water operation, a 90-degree tilt function, an integrated steering lock, and a kill switch with an extended cable for added safety. The motor also features ePropulsion’s advanced hydrogeneration technology, which generates electricity while sailing at speeds of 3–16 knots. For example, at 10 knots it can produce up to 380 watts, extending battery life on longer trips.

In addition, Spirit 2 is equipped with a 45 W USB-C output for charging devices. The optional battery inverter accessory turns the Spirit battery into a portable power station, providing more flexibility in places without access to the power grid.

At full power, Spirit 2 reaches a maximum speed of 9.5 knots. On a single charge, it can run for about 54 minutes at full power, up to 1 hour 48 minutes at half power, and up to 3 hours at quarter power, depending on operating conditions. The system is fully compatible with ePropulsion’s 48 V platform and E-series batteries, and supports both solar charging and integration with other energy systems, including Victron Energy solutions. This thoughtful engineering has earned Spirit 2 a DAME Design Award nomination, recognizing the motor’s ease of use, performance, and design innovations.

From casual boating to fishing and tender towing, Spirit 2 is designed to support a wide range of boating needs, with a focus on performance, sustainability, and simplicity.

Spirit 2 will go on sale worldwide through authorized ePropulsion dealers starting in spring 2026.
